McLanahan Wobbler Feeders
McLanahan Wobbler Feeders
Efficient Feeding and Scalping for Wet, Sticky and Clay-Rich Materials
McLanahan Wobbler Feeders are heavy-duty feeding machines designed to provide controlled material feeding while simultaneously removing fines and undersized material.
Unlike conventional vibrating feeders, Wobbler Feeders use a series of rotating elliptical discs to move and separate material.
This unique operating principle makes Wobbler Feeders particularly suitable for applications involving wet, sticky, clay-rich or difficult-to-handle materials, where conventional screening and feeding equipment may experience material build-up or blinding.
By combining feeding and scalping in one machine, Wobbler Feeders can reduce the amount of undersized material entering the primary crusher and improve the efficiency of the downstream crushing circuit.
How McLanahan Wobbler Feeders Work
Material is loaded onto the rotating disc assembly through a hopper or feed chute.
The feeder consists of multiple rotating shafts fitted with overlapping elliptical discs.
As the shafts rotate, the elliptical discs lift, move and tumble the material forward toward the discharge end.
The movement creates gaps between the discs through which smaller particles and fines can fall.
Larger material continues forward toward the crusher or downstream equipment.
The continuous rotation of the discs provides both:
Controlled Feeding + Scalping
This allows the Wobbler Feeder to perform feeding and separation without relying on conventional vibrating screen motion.
Effective Scalping of Fines
One of the primary advantages of a Wobbler Feeder is its ability to remove fines before primary crushing.
Undersized material passes through the openings between the rotating discs, while larger material continues toward the crusher.
Removing fines before crushing can:
-
Reduce the amount of material entering the crusher
-
Reduce unnecessary crushing
-
Improve effective crusher capacity
-
Reduce crusher wear
-
Improve energy efficiency
-
Stabilize the downstream crushing circuit
The scalping performance depends on the disc configuration, opening size, feed gradation and material characteristics.
Handling Wet and Sticky Materials
Wobbler Feeders are particularly effective for difficult materials that can be challenging for conventional vibrating equipment.
The rotating disc action helps move sticky material through the feeder while reducing the risk of material build-up and screen blinding.
They are well suited for materials containing clay, moisture or other sticky components.
Controlled Material Feeding
The speed of the Wobbler Feeder can be controlled to regulate the rate at which material is delivered to downstream equipment.
A consistent feed helps maintain stable operation of crushers and conveyors and can reduce fluctuations in the crushing circuit.
Heavy-Duty Construction
McLanahan Wobbler Feeders are designed for demanding applications involving large, heavy and abrasive feed materials.
The rotating shafts, discs, bearings and drive components are designed to withstand continuous operation under demanding conditions.
The feeder configuration can be selected according to the required capacity, feed size and material characteristics.
